10 things you might want in the Xbox Live update but forgot to announce…

With the Xbox Live Update knocking on our doors at 4th dec. it came to my mind what i forgot to mention what i really wanted to have inside this update.

You know the feeling, when you know ok, now it is definatly too late to talk about stuf you want to see in the next update.

I made a list, for myself to remind me, showing me everything i want to see in the next update.

1. Chat Pad Short cuts | i mean how awsome would it be if you had the chance to answer the message that you got via the press of a hot key, or maybe to del a message right after you have read it?
2. Disabling notifications via dashboard in game | have you ever played Lumines Live or any other game that needed all you attention, and then someone on you Friendlist went online and all you attention is drawn to this? Or maybe you just recorded a tutorial Video how people can score 100 legit Kills in Halo3 in your way without dying and then someone got online and you got Headshot killed. Guys, if this happend once you know what i mean 🙂
3. MultiMemberChats | come on this is possible… we all know.
4. Video Chat | working 🙂
5. Creating your Own Dashboard Themes | Ok, there is chit chat about “Video playback” Dashboard Themes, with sound and all that… but do you really belief this gets into for you to be edited?

Eidos announced sequel to Deus Ex

Whow,

Eidos told that they are actually programming the next sequel to the Mega, and everything-changing Game Deus Ex.

After they, have creating Deus Ex 2 they had to make this announcement if any of the Devs really wanted to get into Gaming Heaven.

Eidos just did not tell anything about the System this game will be released, but i am , sure i will be owning the system at the release date of the game, no matter what it is.

I am happy.

ESRB´s today updated list revealed the two games “TRON” and “Prince of Persia” are newly listed in their database, which was often before confirmation for an appearing on the Live Arcade Marketplace.

Lets hope for better Graphics on both….

Did you ever have speed problems while using Firefox on your Windows Machine? This is because of a bug where Firefox handles the memory the system holds wrong, and gives those recources back after a certain case is fulfilled. This is a bad habit Firefox is showing you, but i will tell you how to teach it manners.

1. Type into the adressbar of your firefox window “about:config“
2. In the uppopping new tab you press the right mouse button and press “new” – after that you take the “integer” option
3. The new window lets you set up a new name for your “integer, call it “browser.cache.memory.capacity”
4. Next press “ok”, into the next window you type “100000” this tells the Firefox how much memory to use.
5. Restart Firefox.
6. You can see your changes by typing “about:cache” into the adressbar of your browser

Ok this was nice, but there are more things you can teach your Firefox in the newly discovered window called “about:config“, read on and find out.

browser.cache.doc_check_frequency

1. Type “about:config” into the adressbar of your Firefox
2. Press the right mouse button, select “New” and take the “Integer” option
3. Into the appearing window type “browser.cache.doc_check_frequency“
4. In the next window you type any of the following 4 numbers according to how you want to change the way Firefox is caching the web content it gets (by defualt it caches everything until it is full, then it takes the first things out.)
   • 0: Set the preference to 0 for one check per URL resource per Firefox Web surfing session.
   • 1: will set the Firefox to always use the cache
   • 2: tells the Firefox not to use the cache at all
   • 3: lets the Firefox use the cache when ever it is told to via html.
5. If you are connected to the Internet via a cable connection you can set the Firefox to “0” because you are browsing fast enough to use this setup. But you have to take the right option in the end.

Disable Fav icons and Site Icons
If you are browsing onto Internet sites like johnchow.com you might notice a small image to the left of the adress, this is a “site icon” and if you save this site to your bookmarks this icon will be saved into your bookmark folder and will make it bigger and bigger.

1. type “about:config” into your adressbar, press enter
2. type “browser.chrome.site_icon” into the “filter”
3. set a double click onto where “true” is written
4. check back if “true” has become “false“
5. restart Firfox, and there wont be a “site icon” anymore.

To make the fav icons disappear do the following

1. type “about:config” into the adressbar of your Firefox
2. type “browser.chrome.favicons” into the filter
3. set a double click onto where “true” is written
4. recheck if “false” is written where “true” was before
5. your next bookmark wont contain a favicon.

Fasten up Firefox´s rendering engine

Have you ever tried to open an image intensive site like ign.com? Then you noticed Firefox is doing crazy things while it is loading this site. Tell your Firefox how to read such sites faster…

1. type “about:config” into the adressbar of Firefox
2. press the right mouse button, press “New” and take the “Integer” option.
3. type “nglayout.initialpaint.delay“, press enter and set value to “0″ (millisec.) default is 250.
4. press right mouse button, press “New” and take the “Integer” option
5. type “content.notify.interval” press enter, and give it a value of “5000“

This will give your Firefox the chance to take more power from your machine and it will faster display the image heavy sites.

Site Restore by default (firefox 2.0 only)

Have you ever been angry about your Firefox crashing and loosing all tabs that you wanted to read so desperatly? Tell your Firefox to remember.

1. type “about:config” into the adressbar of your browser
2. type “browser.startup.page” into the filter, press enter, double click on the value (1 by default)
3. set “3” as a new value, press enter, restart Firefox

Your Firefox understands now how important your tabs are to you and will never forget them again…

Tab width (Firefox 2.0 only)

As the usual Geek you already have had situations where you were browsing the Web, read a good news Artikel and saw a link or maybe two or three, pressed with the middle button upon and read on. This habit causes a lot of trouble in the new Firefox 2.0 because after 7 opened tabs Firefox sets itself to a scroll mode,in which it still opens the tabs but you cannot see them – only through scrolling. This makes me crazy, and I guess you feel the same way, so I show you how you change this.

• type “about:config” into the adressbar of your Firefox
• type “browser.tabs.tabminwidth” into the filter
• double click the value it should show (100) and type “0“
• press enter, restart Firefox to make changes happen

Tab close Button (Firefox 2.0 only)

Have you ever accidentally closed a tab, while you simply wanted to change the tab, just because the Firefox thinks it is better to have a “tabclosebuttononeverytab”? Then you know how much I hate it. I tought it not to do that.

1. type “about:config” into the adressbar of your Firefox
2. type “browser.tabs.closebutton” into the filter
3. double click the value (1 by standart) and set it to (3)
4. press enter , tada – it is gone and back to the right how we already know it…

Turn of the toolbar tips (Firefox 2.0 only)

You want to show your geekness again and all your friends are standing around you while you want to show the latest uber skills you have on hacking, then your hand gets off the mouse and the courser rests upon the refresh button, a yellow message pops up telling you “refresh” and all the geekness is gone. Do not let that happen!!!

1. type “about:config” into the adressbar of your browser
2. type “browser.chrome.toolbar_tips” into the filter
3. double click onto “true” to set the value to “false“
4. Tips are gone…

Config Trim on Minimize

Every Windows programm should be in some kind of sleep mode once it is minimized, Firefox not. Change that…

1. type “about:config” into the Firefox adressbar
2. type “config.trim_on_minimize” into the filter
3. double click onto the value “false” to make make it turn into “true”
   1. On some releases the “config.trim_on_minimize” is not programmed into chrome you have to do it yourself
   2. right click and press “New” click “boolean“
   3. type “config.trim_on_minimize” hit enter and set the value to “true“

New Xbox Live Arcade Titles announced for this Summer…

… in an Interview with IGN today SNK USA president Ber Herman said there will be old SNK Games available on the Xbox Live Marketplace this Summer. Some of these games set for release are games which retailed for about 200$ for about 17 years ago – if this is not a hint, the damage for each should be around 800 and 1200 Microsoft Points.

Herman did not exactly told IGN, what games will be released, but he said

“we are looking for games that haven’t been available“

But dont be on fire, all you geeks out there, and await a KOF or a Metal Slug with leaderboards and online gaming, because he also said

“so we’re looking for games that haven’t been available to be more attractive to users when we first launch. If we had a chance to bring out two games for our first month I wouldn’t want it to be King of Fighters ’94 and Metal Slug 1. That wouldn’t be the plan. We have 120 different Neo Geo titles… there’s plenty to select from.“

I think, games like “Garou Mark of the Wolves”, or “Kizuna Encounter” for about 4 bucks would be nice, because these are games that really “haven´t been available”… and with a online Mode, wow, i really thought about to train my body not to need sleep anymore…

Ok, the patch is out, and chances are high some of the glitches which made this game so unfair when it was pre patch, are out too. But the answer is “NO”. I will show you now a couple of youtube videos which were taken after the patch and show some old glitches that are still working after the patch and some new glitches the patch enabled.
